Industrial and urban ride: GMC Granite Concept debuts at Detroit Auto Show

The production of the 2011 Chevrolet Orlando is already in the pipeline and with their crossover compact ready for roll out, General Motors turns its eye on their truck spin off for the GMC. The new crossover for GMC came in the form of GMC Granite concept during the Detroit Auto Show.
The GMC Granite is dubbed by the carmaker as an urban-industrial wagon designed specifically for young professionals. The Granite has gets its styling lines from all over the GMC range, and it has some similarities to other successful wagons like the Scion xB and the 2010 Kia Soul.
The designer of the Granite compares the vehicle to an urban loft and true enough it has its modernist feel—tall headlamps, almost a vertical rear, truckish grille, and other details for the interior dominated by suede and cream shaded plastic.
The GMC Granite concept is linked to the Chevrolet Orlando by the 138 horsepower 4-cylinder 1.4L engine which is coupled with 6-speed automatic gearbox.
